Leaving the country..Informing the HMRC?
Leaving for aus next month for just under 6 months and was wondering do I need to let HMRC know? I My place of work has said I might have to, but I've tried calling them many times, either too busy and get cut off or the wait is ridiculous!

Anyone know about this stuff? cheers fellas

The more you tell em, the more they will give you a good shoeing.

That form states if you live here and are only going temporary, not to fill in this form.

Does anyone know anything more, or where to go? Thanks, a tax rebate sounds great!

I came and went abroad for 16 years, they didn't give a toss.

Unless you're working for them......

I never told anyone I was going either. Didn't have a problem on my return.

You should be due a tax rebate if you're not going to be working here as you will have half a year of your personal allowance unused. They probably won't give it back to you until the end of the tax year - or if you're back working before the end of March you'll be credited with it through the payroll.

Think you only need to inform if you're going to be away for a year? I am sure I read that on one of the ex-pat forums.

That could be outdated though so it may be best to ring and say "im leaving, you robbing fucks"
